I asked Diana to talk about the series as a whole since this is book two.  Here’s what she told me. 

Hi Viviana, thank you so much for having me today. I love this question because it gives me an excuse to talk about the series as a whole. When I started writing Love Over Lattes (Book 1), the working title for the book was Desert Monsoon because it was set in the Arizona during the Summer months when it rains constantly in the desert. The season from May to September is called Desert Monsoon. All three books are set in Arizona during the monsoon months.

From the beginning, I wanted the series to be about second chances and forgiveness. In the first book, Love Over Lattes, Valentina is a single mom who can’t find a reason to forgive herself for getting pregnant when she was in College. Cole, Valentina’s love interest, is going through a similar journey of forgiving himself for letting his marriage fall apart.

In Love Over Logic (Book 2), we meet Cole’s lawyer friend, Dom Moretti, who has a dark secret. He spends a lot of his time trying to atone for things he did when he was younger. When Dom meets Emilia, she’s dead set on avenging her dad. They’re on two different paths, but they both end up in the same place, where they both have to figure out a way to forgive, in order to have the life they dreamed of.

In the third and final book in the series, Love Over Time (Coming Spring 2019), you get to meet Nikki and Henry, the boy who broke her heart once upon a time. Nikki appears in Love Over Lattes as the antagonist, but in Love Over Time, we get to see that everything she did was for a good cause. Nikki returns to her hometown to clear her sister’s name of a crime she didn’t commit. In the process, she meets up with Henry who’s on his own path of revenge. Together they solve Nikki’s sister’s cold case and find a way back to each other.

I loved writing these characters and exploring the different aspects of forgiveness and revenge. Damon Suede says Romance is the genre of hope. The Desert Monsoon series definitely aims to show that no matter what, there’s always the hope of a new day.
