On Tour with A Christmas Carol By Lexi Post #christmasatvivis

This is the best thing ever. Of all the re-telling of classic tales, it’s the first time I find A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens… or something like that. And it’s the best thing ever.

The series is A Christmas Carol By Lexi Post, a paranormal, holiday, series and today I’m hosting the last book in it:

One of a Kind Christmas ~ A Christmas Carol Book #4

Synopsis

For her to love him, he must face a spirit, an archangel…and himself.

The spirit of Cameron Douglas has totally screwed-up…again. Now, he has to fix his mess in one night with the help of his best friend and somehow encourage his widow to move on.

Holly Douglas is anguished that this is the last Christmas she’ll be visited by her late husband, Cameron. For three years he’s sent her the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and they’ve helped her cope with her loss. But now all that ends, and she doesn’t understand why he must push her away.

Ethan Stewart has been in love with Holly since Cameron’s death, but she isolated herself from everyone, including him. Then something changed, and he was welcomed back as her friend. But he wants more— to love her openly, and most of all to make her happy again. Though he loved his best friend like a brother and will do anything for Holly, as he’s pulled into the spirit world, he discovers the price they must pay for their chance at forever…and it just might be too high.

Excerpt:

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them. “I miss Cam. It was as if we were two parts of the same soul. I lived vicariously through him even while I worried constantly about him. It was one of the reasons I was constantly warning him to be careful. I was afraid to lose him.”

Ethan looked away and rubbed the back of his neck. “And then I did.”

She felt as if her heart were breaking all over again, not for her but for Ethan. He was so good to her. He even loved her. And she… “Ethan, I understand.”

His gaze returned to hers. Though she couldn’t see his face clearly, the limited light reflected off the sheen in his eyes.

She placed her hand on his cheek and rising on her toes brushed her lips across his in a feather-light kiss. She only meant to give comfort, but a spark of something else hit her heart.

She remained there, her lips close to his but not touching, wanting more but afraid to ask.

Ethan remained absolutely still, his breath mixing with her own.

He loved her but would never push her. It wasn’t his nature. She could walk away right now, but to what?

Nothing.

She stared at his mouth in the dim light. She wanted to live again. She wanted to feel again. Tilting her head, she pressed her lips more firmly against his, moving her hand down his stubbled jaw and behind his neck to pull him closer.

Ethan’s lips opened, and she slipped her tongue between them.

As his arms came around her, it was like waking from a dream. A slow burn flowed through her veins as he took control of the kiss and explored her mouth with his tongue. It was an unhurried exploration and heat built in her belly. When he pulled back to lick the underside of her top lip, she took her first deep breath. As she exhaled, tingles spread throughout her body.

He kissed the corners of her mouth before leaning his forehead against her own. “Ye catch my blood on fire, lass.”

Lexi Post head shot

Chatting with the Author:

Lexi Post is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of romance inspired by the classics. She spent years in higher education taking and teaching courses about the classical literature she loved. From Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Masque of the Red Death” to Tolstoy’s War and Peace, she’s read, studied, and taught wonderful classics.

But Lexi’s first love is romance novels so she married her two first loves, romance and the classics. From hot paranormals to sizzling cowboys to hunks from out of this world, Lexi provides a sensuous experience with a “whole lotta story.”

Lexi is living her own happily ever after with her husband and her cat in Florida. She makes her own ice cream every weekend, loves bright colors, and you will never see her without a hat.

Hi Lexi, and thank you for being here!

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

Since all my romances are inspired by classic literature, this story was inspired by Charles Dickens’ novella A Christmas Carol. The whole series was actually inspired by that story, but I set it in “Deervale,” Scotland. Instead of a Scrooge I have a young widow, Holly, who isn’t able to move on after her husband has passed. Instead of a financial establishment, Holly owns the One of a Kind Christmas Shop, specializing in one-of-a-kind decorations. Instead of Marley, I have her late husband who sends spirits to her. And instead of one spirit, Holly is visited by two from the Past, Present, and Future. Those pairs make up the first 3 books of the series. One of Kind Christmas is Holly’s happily ever after.

What sort of research did you do to write this book?

Most of my research centered around the area of Darvel, Scotland. Luckily, I have friends there that help me with specifics and my daughter-in-law, who is from Edinburgh, helps me with present day language and traditions. I also did research on Loudoun Castle, Loudoun Hill, and the history of Darvel, which I had in a book my friend Jim Mair put together.

Did you always have the reins of the story or the people in it tried to take over?

Funny you should ask. Cameron Douglas, Holly’s late husband, was such a pain. He was constantly doing things I wasn’t expecting him to. Drove me, Holly, Ethan, and Rem nuts. I think it was even making Mac, the cat, crazy. LOL

What are you working on now?

I’m working on the sixth book in my Eden series. Each book in this series is inspired by an Emily Dickinson poem. Eden isn’t your typical planet. Eden is a planet of nude men who find their beloved on Earth and bring their women to Eden. This is a utopia with flaws series. It’s a Utopia because Edenists will do anything for their women and every woman must have at least two of these hunks as husbands. However, though Edenists are evolved humans with special abilities, they can be very human in their flaws. I love working in Eden. The scenery is great!

What was your job before you started writing full time?

My last job I had before writing full time was as a Visiting Professor at the University of the Virgin Islands where I taught classes in writing research and world literature. I still teach an online course on occasion for another university.

What do your friends and family think about your being a writer?

My family are not only my cheering squad but practically helpful as well. My mom makes crafts for me to give away and mails them. She also finds the Venetian masks I’m known for giving out. My sister is my art director for my covers (she’s an artist) and is my primary beta reader. My husband not only tells everyone we meet that I’m a New York Times Bestselling author, but he also helps me set up for book signings, helps me carry things while at conventions, and even helps me with research by connecting me to people he knows in his field, be it military or fire, or other. Oh yes, and he also cooks every night. But he did that even before I became a writer because he learned early that if we ate my cooking, he wouldn’t last a year. LOL.

What does your writing space look like?

Oh, I love my writing space! I have an office with bookcases, a large L-shaped desk and lots of awesome stuff on the walls. Everything from a painting my sister did, to a photo of my husband as fire chief, to 35 Venetian masks and my swords. Oh yes, and a wall of all my book covers. Hmm, actually it’s two walls now.

What has been one of your most rewarding experiences as an author?

I love meeting my readers in person, but that’s not always possible, so when one of my readers whom I met in person asked if we could start a reader group where I could interact with them online, I was so touched. My Lexi’s Legends was born and it’s a very special group where we can chat and share what we all love…romance!

Can you describe your writing style in ten words or less?

This was a tough question, so I went to my Lexi’s Legends and asked them. Here’s what they came up with: Engaging, fun, fast-paced, unique, charming, romantic, sexy and always HEA!

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I spend time with my husband and dance. Often I get to do those two together.

What turns you on?

Random Acts of Kindness.

What turns you off?

Negativity, arrogance, and greed.

Pen or computer – computer.

Music or silence – silence. I love silence. I don’t even listen to the radio when driving.

Why did you choose the shirt you have on?

It was the next one on the pile of t-shirts in my drawer. It’s florescent pink.

First thought when the alarm goes off in the in the morning?

What day is it?

Up early or sleep in – Sleep in. Don’t ask me to get up at 4am, but I can stay awake until 4am.

How lucky are you and why?

This is a loaded question that I could write pages on, but I’ll keep it brief for a change. I have the most amazing man for a husband who I love to infinity and beyond. I have a goofy cat who makes me smile every day (and makes me take him for walks on his leash). I get to make my living doing what I love because I have awesome readers who like my unusual romances. And I have wonderful family and friends who warm my heart. What more could a lady ask for?
