AUTHOR BIO: Alexandrea Weis is an advanced practice registered nurse who was born and raised in New Orleans. Having been brought up in the motion picture industry, she learned to tell stories from a different perspective and began writing at the age of eight. Infusing the rich tapestry of her hometown into her award-winning novels, she believes that creating vivid characters makes a story memorable. A permitted/certified wildlife rehabber with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Weis rescues orphaned and injured wildlife. She lives with her husband and pets in New Orleans.

The Secret Brokers is the first book in The Secret Brokers Series, where our main character, Dallas August, is struggling to run his New York-based organization of elite spies for hire. Made up of men and women with various talents, Dallas places the right spy with the right target or person of interest. His spies, or specialists, must use whatever means necessary to discover secrets, then those secrets are sold to the highest bidder.

A former agent with the CIA, Dallas knows what it takes to be one of his specialists; he used to be the best. But on assignment in New Orleans, he fell in love with his target. Sadly, Nicci Beauvoir loved another. Dallas buries himself in work and vodka and is even having second thoughts about his career. The Secret Brokers is about Dallas’s journey to heal his broken heart and accept who he is and what he does. He finds himself suddenly in charge of the company he works for and worries for the specialists in his care. Dallas’s continuing struggles with the demands of his business and clients weighed against his desire for a life and love. In many ways, he will be as flawed and as conflicted as many of us are—torn between our work lives and a yearning for something more soul-satisfying. Unlike most thrillers, Dallas will have a very soft interior to contradict his tough exterior, adding to the complexity of his character. It is this inner turmoil, and how he deals with it, that will be a tale woven through the series. Each novel will include his adventures, along with those of his specialists. They will carry out deadly, and sometimes comical, assignments. Stealing secrets from industry, museums, governments, colleges, hospitals, labs, drug companies, businesses, homes, and more will be part of future books. Plotlines will involve men, women, children, cheating husbands, desperate wives, business moguls, leaders, diplomats, dictators, nurses, doctors, politicians, and people from all walks of life, and in settings across the globe.

What will make this series unique is the characters. I will strive to make my character human and etched with flaws while keeping their humorous underpinnings part of their storyline. Creating believable characters in outlandish situations has always been something I strive to make a part of my stories. In The Secret Brokers Series, there will be lots of adventure, romance, intriguing espionage, and humorous side stories to create lasting tales that will stay with readers for a long time to come.
