AUTHOR BIO:Award-winning author, Stacey O’Neale, lives in Annapolis, Maryland. When she’s not writing, she spends her time fangirling over books, blogging, watching fantasy television shows, cheering for the Baltimore Ravens, and hanging out with her husband and daughter.

Her career in publishing started as a blogger-turned-publicist for two successful small publishers. Stacey writes young adult fantasy and adult science fiction romance. Her books always include swoon-worthy heroes, snarky heroines, and lots of kissing.

Hi Stacey, and thank you for being with us!

Why did you write The Shadow Prince as a prequel novella?

I wrote The Shadow Prince because I wanted to have something I could give readers for free. That’s the truth. I was a debut author, and I thought readers might give me a chance if they didn’t have to buy a book. At the time, I’d already written Storm Born, which is the first novel in the Mortal Enchantment series. I thought it might be interesting to write the story that laid the foundation for the entire series. That’s why I created the novella. I wrote the entire thing in two weeks, which is crazy looking back on it. I’m typically not a fast writer.

Can you tell us more about the Mortal Enchantment series?

The Mortal Enchantment series has one novella, The Shadow Prince, and three full-length novels: Storm BornFragile Reign, and Eternal Sacrifice. On October 28th, I released the box set collection, which includes additional chapters and POV. The box set collection will be on sale through the blog tour for $0.99. After the tour, the price goes up to $7.99. I wrote the novella from Rowan’s point of view. Each of the novels has at least two points of view, and all written in the first person. I could break down each of the blurbs for you, but that seems a bit lazy. I’ll tell you that Arthurian mythology and the German Renaissance physician, alchemist, and astrologer, Paracelsus, inspired the series. The four courts concept of the series comes from Paracelsus’s published works. He believed there were four categories of elementals, and that they live among us on this plane of existence. The story takes place in Avalon, which is where the Arthurian aspect of the series comes into play. In the later books, I delve deeper into the mythology. There are mentions of characters many readers will recognize.
