Of all the books I’ve written, Miles and Miles of You is one of my favorites. Miles and Lucy are hilarious and the push-pull tension of their relationship was a joy to write. This was my first road trip romance and a lot of folks have been asking how I got the idea for the story, which was inspired by a mashup of pandemic wanderlust and The Great Resignation.

My editor and I were chatting on Zoom and I was like, what would happen if a fed-up twenty-something assistant (who didn’t have to worry about a mortgage or family obligations) decided to quit her corporate job and follow her dream of becoming a travel influencer? And what would happen if her resignation left her boss’s life in shambles and he tagged along, determined to win her back? It just sort of snowballed from there, which is one of the things I love most about this story because I’m about as risk averse as they come and aspire to Lucy’s courage!

I loved seeing Lucy come into her own as she and Miles travel cross-country, transitioning from eager-to-please assistant to a woman who knows her mind—and her worth. Getting both Miles and Lucy out of their normal routines and upending their lives was crucial to the story because they were far too comfortable in the roles they’d been playing. Shoving them into a new set of circumstances forced them to see each other—and themselves—differently, and while Lucy had nursed a crush on Miles for nearly two years, he couldn’t see her for who she was—or how perfectly she fit into his life—without an epic shakeup that forced him to re-evaluate everything he held dear.

It was the perfect set up and the Route 66 backdrop lent a lot of history and hijinks to the story. These two have all the shenanigans, so if you enjoy hilarious road trip adventures, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity/only one bed, boss/employee, high stakes bet romance with low angst and high tension guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face, be sure to check out Miles and Miles of You!
