Victoria Marswell is a romance suspense author. She started writing poetry and short stories in her early teens. Victoria majored in biblical studies at Hope International University and incorporates inspirational Christian themes into her writings. She’s a world traveler and sets her stories in the locations she visits. At 17, she traveled to Germany and Austria where she was inspired to write her debut novel, The Counterfeiter’s Daughter. Victoria continues to travel the world, creating and writing romantic and thrilling adventures. She lived in Orange County, CA. for 38 years and currently resides in Portsmouth, NH.

Can you tell us more about the brother?

Tom, Jeanette’s younger brother, is the assistant-chief curator of antiquities at the Bostonian Historical Society. He has a lifelong obsession with relics, specifically mysterious stones that they learned about as kids. He’s made it his life’s mission to discover the ancient stones and discover their purpose. When the story starts in the present day, Tom has spent the past seven years traveling the world searching for the stones and usually finds himself in trouble.

Since childhood, Jeanette has felt obligated to help Tom stay out of trouble and always goes to his rescue whenever needed.

There’s a strain on their relationship because of Tom’s carefree lifestyle, his willingness to risk everything for relics, and sibling rivalry.

I loosely based the family dynamics between Jeanette and Tom on my personal experience of having a brother that was the “golden child” and the feelings of my parents thinking he could do no wrong.

One of my favorite parts of Jeanette’s character arc was to write about the progress she makes with Tom and their relationship.
