I walked him to the front of the office, and he shook my hand, the warmth of his clasped fingers around mine sending heat and sparks up my arm. He held it a little too long, a little too intimately. I connected with his eyes, expecting to see a teasing flicker—one that he no doubt used on his adoring models to show his playful side. Instead I saw an intensity that arrowed strait to my core.

Backing away, I severed our bond and glanced around the reception area where five people were waiting. Dylan gave me a look that I interpreted as good luck. Ignoring him and finding my smile, I introduced myself to the waiting clients before stating I’d be right back. I nodded for Carol to follow me and pulled her into the empty conference room.

“Why didn’t you warn me that Dylan Addison is a difficult client?” Was that the correct label for him, or was it more like disturbing—as in unsettling all my cells?

“He only became difficult when his needs stopped being met. I didn’t get a chance to tell you much about him before he showed up. Bad timing.”

I shook my head. “I’m sorry. But I’ve only been here for a half hour, and he’s managed to dump his entire case on me.” As well as his aura invading my personal space.

  1. Hi Viviana and Readers: Thank you for having me on your blog. To all your readers out there, how are you celebrating National Ice Cream Day? Although it was yesterday, I think it should really be a week or a month long – especially in this hot weather. And although I would love for you to read “Return to Wylder”, a definite beach read, I have an ice cream book out called “The Blueberry Swirl Waltz” which won the 2021 NEST (National Excellence in Story Telling) Award. So grab both and head to the beach, lake, pool, or air-conditioned room. 🙂
