Tinsel and Tea Cakes by Jill Piscitello will release on December 14 in the Sweet, holiday romance genre.

Hair stylist Scarlett Kerrigan lost her job and her apartment. To alleviate a touch of self-pity, she succumbs to her stepmom’s pressure to attend a wedding in the New Hampshire White Mountains. Unfortunately, she runs into the vacation fling who promised the moon but disappeared without an explanation. Months have passed, but she is not ready to forgive and forget.

After a chaotic year, executive Wes Harley settles into his family’s event venue, The Timeless Manor. His carefully structured world is shaken to its core when Scarlett arrives for the Victorian Christmas wedding weekend. The feelings he never quite erased flood to the surface.

When secrets are revealed, will a magical chateau and a sprinkle of tinsel be enough to charm Scarlett?

About the Author:

Jill Piscitello is a teacher, author, and an avid fan of multiple literary genres. Although she divides her reading hours among several books at a time, a lighthearted story offering an escape from the real world can always be found on her nightstand. A native of New England, Jill lives with her family and three well-loved cats. When not planning lessons or reading and writing, she can be found spending time with her family, trying out new restaurants, traveling, and going on light hikes.

Novella vs Novel

As a reader, I’m a longtime fan of anthologies, short stories, and novellas. Prior to becoming an empty nester, my schedule didn’t always allow the time needed to submerge myself in a full-length novel. After a series of letdowns picking up a book after more than a week (or two, or three) only to find a re-introduction to characters and storylines were necessary, I had the good fortune of receiving a copy of Maeve Binchy’s “Maybe This Year It Will Be Different: And Other Stories”. One busy holiday season filled with dance rehearsals, fundraising performances, basketball games, piano lessons, a parade, shopping, and parties, I was delighted to find just enough snippets of time emerged for me to devour these fifteen heartwarming stories. One look at my current titles is a good indicator of my love for all things Christmas, and I enjoyed every minute of those hectic days. But the discovery of novellas turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving.

Tinsel and Tea Cakes is my first foray into writing a novella. Truth be told, I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the characters or The Timeless Manor, which takes on a life of its own. My follow up will likely be a full-length novel set at the fictional venue. But I hope readers enjoy this festive little tale as much as I do amidst the holiday rush.
