RODNEY pulled off Highway 20 into the coffee shop parking lot. That arrogant bitch, Sylvia, would never meet at her fancy penthouse. It always had to be across the Bay from Destin in Niceville. No complaints from him, the Copper Kettle served a fine breakfast, plus he wouldn’t be caught in that damn tourist traffic across the Mid-Bay Bridge.

After he parked, Rodney glimpsed in the rearview mirror, licked his fingers, and then ran them through the few stands left on his balding head.

Interesting that Sylvia had contacted him again. The last time they had met, she told him she wouldn’t need his services any longer. Supposedly she had all the information she required to give to the authorities. What a joke. Those files didn’t have half the juicy information he’d acquired over the last several months. Immigration probably laughed in her face. Only he had enough dope to send a warning signal to the authorities and he wasn’t quite ready to part with those juicy tidbits. Of course, if his bookie didn’t get off his back, he’d need to loosen his grip on the good stuff before he was ready.

Rodney opened the door and slowly heaved his bulk from the rusty Impala. Every day it got harder to move around. Maybe he should go on a diet and get more exercise. Yeah, join one of those gyms and watch all the babes in their sexy workout clothes. Sounded like a plan. He’d be sure to check into that tomorrow.
