Weekly at Vivi’s with Lorelei Confer ~ My May Tradition

I’m very happy to have Lorelei back with me today, and the May tradition she tells about is very sweet! Read on!

Lorelei Confer lives on a peninsula in the mid-west coast of Florida with her high school sweetheart, now husband, and AJ, her longhaired Chihuahua.

In the fourth grade, she wrote her first story—something about getting a shot at the doctors—that was produced by the teacher for parents and students in an assembly. When she was older, she spilled her guts in a journal every night and wrote long newsy love letters to Viet Nam.

She is a multi-published author of romantic suspense with two series: The Deadly series and the Saddle Creek series. She also has written numerous novellas and short stories.

My May Tradition

Hi everyone! Thanks Viviana, for having me here today. I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are well, still social distancing, washing hands, getting back to work and finding a new normal.

The month of May ushers in so many celebrations all in one month usually; the end of the school year, summer vacations, Mother’s Day, weddings and anniversaries, and many then there’s Memorial Day. A federal holiday to remember the fallen, those men and women who lost their lives protecting our country. These celebrations are deeply ingrained in everyone’s memory.

As an example, yesterday was our Golden Anniversary, our 50th. Definitely, one with lots of memories. We were married in between my husband’s two tours in Viet Nam and my late father had his first heart attack on my wedding day. We didn’t have much of a honeymoon because of the times and situation, kind of like now with constraints. My husband promised me he would make it up to me and he kept his promise.

We traveled somewhere new every year the second week in May. We spent our 25th anniversary at Lake Tahoe, our 30th at Cocoa Beach, our 35th in Nevada, and our 45th in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Most years in between were spent in North Carolina, Montana, or Wyoming. We love Yellowstone, the history in the valley of Jackson Hole, as well as all the wildlife. And once we get some where we don’t stay in one place. We have “go” bags we put in the car and we if we’re enjoying ourselves and are too away from our room, we find a place to spend the night and continue the next day. Our lives are full of continued exploration.

I began a series, Saddle Creek, WY, a few years ago that takes place in the shadows of the Grand Teton Mountain range. They can be seen from miles and miles away. The premise of the series is relative to our oldest son who had remained loyal friends to the same boys, now grown men, since middle school. They attended each other’s first weddings, and their subsequent divorces, the births of their children, their second marriages and all of their birthdays throughout the year. All their spouses were welcomed into the foursome group ad have becomes friends as well. The four men stay in contact and are there for each other as their parents begin to pass away. Their bond is strong; their loyalty to each other stronger, through thick and thin and I think it’s amazing.

          Please, share this post!
