Here’s to a better May.
The month of April has been a nightmare. I haven’t been out of my house since the middle of March. The Cornavirus is hitting us hard in New York and New Jersey. I not only have cabin fever, but I’m having shopping withdrawals. Thank God for Amazon. They are a “place this order” away.
So what have I been doing since the middle of March? Besides walking around the house in circles, I’ve been working on multiple writing projects. My Cookie Cutter Cozy Mystery Series I’m working on book 6. Book 5 (Men’s Club Chaos is in the final stages of proofreading.)
After working on my writing, I head into my library/parlor and plop down on the couch and read. Lately, I’ve been reading cozy mysteries. I like them because they are short and a quick read. My favorite authors to read are Cindy Bell, London Lovett, Wendy Meadows and Margaret Lashley. Right now I’m reading the book 6 in the Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series by London Lovett. All four authors are laugh at loud and the characters are three-dimensional.
Writing is done, I’ve read so much that my eyes aching and so, what’s next. Okay, I have to admit that I do enjoy watching the Young and the Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. That takes up at least an hour and a half of my day. I’m thankful that I have a backyard that I can grab a glass of wine and sit back there relaxing and most of the time thinking up plots for my next series. Prior to the pandemic, I would say there wasn’t enough time in a day to get everything done, now, I’m saying, what the hell am I going to do now.
I’m hoping during this time people are reassessing their lives, reaching out to family and friends who they have lost contact with and checking on their neighbors to make sure they are okay, especially the elderly. I’ve been doing a lot of cooking, something that I’ve always loved doing and couldn’t fit into my schedule. Staying up late and getting up late has been the new schedule in my house. My 8:00 am alarm has been replaced with sleeping in since going to the gym has been taking off the table.
We’re all going through this tough time together. When I take a seat back and take it all in, I have to admit that I am lucky that my family and friends are all safe and are taking precautions to stay that way. The good thing about reading is that it puts you in a whole different world, especially when you read romance novels.
My advice is read and create anyway you can. Go after those hobbies you never had time for. We are all in this together.
Please, share this post!
