I’m very happy to have Gina Gold with me today, all she does is so inspiring!

Gina Gold is a Bay Area based performer, eco-feminist, animal & women’s rights activist, and author.
Her true stories have been featured on NPR, Snap Judgment radio, and Radiotopia.
For the last few years she has been touring in a comedy show called You’re Funny, But You Don’t Look Jewish as well as hosting her own live storytelling series, TMI.
Motivated by her daughter and her friend Barbara (one of the characters in her book) she started a plant-based diet and decided to fight for the rights of animals.
Emergence is Gold’s first novel and the first of a three part series called Blue Ormus about supernatural strippers who battle evil and fight for the equality of all living beings.
Indoor skydiving with Gina
When social distancing is over I strongly recommend taking the family or a group of friends to an indoor skydiving facility like Ifly. I’m obsessed with flying and have always wanted to skydive. I finally jumped out of a plane in Hawaii but it wasn’t as easy as it looked on tv. The next time I decided to tone it down a bit and try indoor skydiving.
I like indoor skydiving because anybody can do it. You don’t need to have any special skills and it’s fun for the whole family. Kids as young as age three can fly and there is no upper age limit. People with all different body types can fly and there is no long training to sit through. The other important distinction is that there is no jumping and free falling with indoor skydiving which makes it way less intimidating. I went with a group of friends and we had a great instructor. He led us into the wind tunnel one at a time and held onto us until we felt comfortable. The wind was stronger than I expected but I got used to it after a few minutes. The instructor was by my side the entire time. It felt so exhilarating to be floating off of the ground and I soon got my nerve up and flew up higher towards the top. The tunnel is made of clear glass so everyone standing on the outside of the tunnel can watch. This raised the stakes for me a bit as I felt like I had to do a good job but thank goodness it wasn’t hard.
Since I have been to Ifly they have added a virtual component so next time I go I can get that skydiving in Hawaii feeling without the jumping. It’s great fun for everyone. Even those who don’t want to participate will enjoy watching the fun from the outside of the tunnel.
