Is there a romantic involvement with the mysterious agent she pulls into action? If so, can she tell us more about him?

Your question for me regarding the mysterious agent that Kate pulls into the action is a good one. I don’t want to give away who is it, because, to many, it comes as a surprise. But let’s just start with the fact that he is y-u-m-m-y. Haha, for real though. He is smart, capable, attractive and has a gift for reading people. Kate drives him crazy though, because she does things that are very different than he expects. That takes him by surprise, because he always knows what to expect from people. It’s his area of expertise. 

At the time in the book that Kate brings him in, she is at a crossroads, and has very few people that she can really trust. She has no one else to turn to, so she takes a chance on him, not at all sure whether or not it will work out. And if he is not who Kate thinks he is, it would mean terrible things for her.  

He turns into much more than a confidant. He helps Kate wade through some seriously murky waters. He keeps her thoughts from going to dark places as more and more horrors come to light about her circumstances. He works with her to uncover the truth about the people she works for. Kate’s feelings for him aren’t a secret, and they grow consistently throughout the book. One thing she really respects about him is that he doesn’t treat her like the newbie she is, he treats her like a professional, like she is capable of doing difficult and downright terrifying things. He helps to keep her focused on the enemy and the task at hand, one step at a time.

I really love their relationship, I like the way the work together, and the mutual respect they have for one another. It only gets better in the second book, Ten Seconds to Pandemic, which will be available in May. They are a very fun people to write about, I enjoy their dynamic, and banter. I can’t wait to see where the third, and final, installment of the Ten Seconds series takes them.
