New Release: Music for a Merman (Sea of Love Book 2) by Alice Renaud and Meet the Character

This story!

Music for a Merman (Sea of Love Book 2) by Alice Renaud will release November 1 in the paranormal fantasy genre.

“Rob Regor knew that humans were trouble. All the shape-shifting mermen of the Morvann Islands knew it. And human women were double trouble, especially when they were lying on the road in front of a digger.”
Rob has a mission. Go to the mainland. Work as a policeman. Find out as much as possible about the mainland humans. Report back to his father, the head of the Regor Clan. It should be easy.
Until he has to arrest Charlie. Rob can’t fight his attraction to the sexy eco-warrior, and it puts him on one hell of a collision course with his family and his Clan. Will he break the rules – or break her heart, and his? Love ‘em and leave ‘em, that was Charlie’s motto. It had served her well until now. But Rob is different… Can she open up her heart to Rob – when a secret buried in her past surfaces and changes her completely?

Only 99 cents!

We’re here today with the Hero of this story, Rob Regor.

Hi Rob, can we start from your profession?

Yes, I’m a Policeman

Are you happy about your life?

I’m quite conflicted at the moment. My father, the head of the Regor Clan of shape-shifting mermen, has sent me to the mainland to spy on humans. Becoming a cop was the perfect cover, or so I thought. But the more time I spend with humans, the more I like them. I’m torn between loyalty to my Clan, and this selfish desire to enjoy the human world.

The quality you most like in a man/woman.

I like people who are true to themselves. Those who will do what they think is right, no matter the cost.

On what occasions do you lie?

Every time someone asks me where I grew up, or what my family is like. I can’t tell any human that I am a shape-shifting merman, and that I come from Regor Island – which is supposed to be uninhabited.

What are you most afraid of?

My father, Rhys Regor, the head of the Regor Clan. He hates humans, and he has a fearsome temper. I dread to think what he would do to a human woman if I became close to her.

What is in your refrigerator right now?

Coke. That’s one piece of human civilization I really enjoy. It’s the first human drink I tried, when I sneaked into a music and poetry festival on Newrock Island, when I was 15.

Your first thought and impression when you first met the heroine.

I had to arrest her because she was lying on the road in front of a digger, and refused to move. She’s an environmental activist, and she was protesting against a development on the coast. I thought she was obstinate and exasperating!

If you were an animal, or a shifter, what animal would you be?

I am a shifter, I can move between the human shape and my merman shape. In my merman, aquatic shape, I look quite a bit like a dolphin – but I have black skin, and webbed hands and feet. No fish tail.

What would you do if you arrive home to find your door unlocked and slightly ajar, and you’re sure you locked it on your way out?

I would get a weapon and enter cautiously. I can handle myself, and mermen are 3 times as strong as humans, so I wouldn’t be too worried about a human intruder. My real fear would be that my father, or his followers, had broken in and were waiting for me, to haul me back to Regor Island.

Do you miss being a child?

No. My father was very strict. When I broke the Clan’s laws by going to that human music and poetry festival, my father punished me by locking me up in an undersea dungeon for 3 days. I was 15.

Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer?

I fish and gather seafood, like all mermen.

What is your least favorite thing about humanity?

The crimes they commit against each other, and against animals. It sickens me to see battery chicken, or orcas kidnapped and imprisoned, forced to perform for humans’ amusement.

The Author

I was born and brought up in Brittany, Western France, my father was French and my mother British (from Wales). I moved to London, UK, in 1997, where I now live with my husband and son. I have been writing since I was 14. I got quite a few short stories published in UK magazines, before moving to longer fiction. I wrote three contemporary romance books, but didn’t find a publisher for them. I then realized that mermen, sea witches and water demons were a lot more fun than sheikhs and billionaires! My first two paranormal romances did not find a publisher either, then I wrote A Merman’s Choice, which was published in January 2019 by Black Velvet Seductions. It is the first book in a fantasy romance trilogy inspired by the landscapes and legends of Brittany and Wales. The second book, Music for a Merman, is due out in 2019. I love reading and writing stories, and sharing them with anyone who’s interested!
