If you like fairy tales, if you like re-telling even more (like I do), and you liked the TV show Once Upon a Time but you wish it had more of an edge (I did), then this is for you.
Corrupted Enchantment: When Fairy Tales Collide by C. Penticoff releases today in the Fairy Tales, Fantasy, Retelling, Young Adult genre.
Welcome to Enchantia, where all your favorite fairy tale characters live happily ever after… That is, until a dark spell takes over the land.
Robin Hood: Everyone at school seemed to be scared of me. What? Had they never met someone who’d been in jail before? Whatever. I liked it that way. I didn’t need friends. I just needed to be left alone so I could get back to what I was supposed to be doing… Stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Something was getting in the way of my usual goal though. There seemed to be a spell looming about, and I knew exactly who was responsible for it– Presidential candidate, Rumpelstiltskin.
There was also the Peter Pan problem. Now that I was back, I could tell he wanted to approach me, but there was nothing he could have done to make me forgive him. He could bat his pretty little eyes all he wanted. The ultimate betrayal wasn’t something I took lightly.
Rumpelstiltskin: I didn’t care what the three fates said about that filthy little brat, Robin Hood, being my undoing. I would spill her blood to change that destiny. Now that I had the power of the Presidency in my palms, I wouldn’t let anything stop me from achieving what I set out to do.

Robin Hood…
Lunch period was always awkward. There didn’t ever seem to be enough seats to sit comfortably by myself, so I was usually stuck with other loners weirder than me. I wasn’t like any of them. Billy, who sat across from me, was an annoying band kid who smelled like cheese. Patty, sitting next to me, had coke bottle glasses that were always fogged up from her heavy breathing; and Jonah was an emo-goth hybrid who talked to himself. We all talk to ourselves from time to time, but he answered himself.
They attempted to talk to me during my first couple of days back, but they seem to have gotten the hint now. I normally spent my lunch observing everyone around me. For instance, there were the preppy rich kids who spent the entire lunch taking selfies and flirting with each other. As I was watching them, I saw one girl’s eyes get wide, then she looked right at me. She showed her friends her phone, then they all were looking at me. I quickly turned away and wondered why in the heck they all seemed to be gawking at me. Maybe it’s just my imagination. But, was it? Suddenly, I noticed random eyes all over the lunch room looking right at me. What was going on? Was I being paranoid?
“Robin,” Billy said.
I glanced up at him.
“You made national news. And you’re all over social media.”
I felt my entire body tense up at the same time the blood rushed to my head. Oh my god. Oh my god. Why did I have to open my mouth to those reporters? I knew I was going to regret that. It wasn’t all in my head. Everyone was staring at me because I’m going viral. It was the worst moment in my life. Even worse than when Peter left. Well…maybe not. Attention is the last thing I ever wanted, though. My goal was always to lay as low as possible, but now my voice was blaring all over the world. I felt my lunch coming up from my gut and knew I needed to jet out of there as fast as I could possibly get out of there.
I sped walked through the cafeteria, and as I passed the preppy table, they said, “You’re famous!”
I glared at them as I flew by. This isn’t happening. This isn’t happening. It couldn’t have been. But, it was. I knew I shouldn’t have spoken up. I should have just kept walking and ignored their stupid prying questions. The only positive outcome I could see from this disaster was Gretchan Candy getting off my rear. Maybe she would even be nice to me from now on since I slandered Rump, or better yet, leave me alone. No. It wasn’t even worth it. It wasn’t worth my face being everywhere.
