Series Spotlight Tour: Easter’s Lilly by Judy Serrano

This looks like a series whose heroes are the villains, and that makes me very curious to see how the author spins this tales.

The series is Easter’s Lilly by Judy Serrano, a Mafia Romance.

Easter’s Lilly ~ Easter’s Lilly Book 1

It was Easter Sunday; the day Lilly’s life went from safe and comfortable to dangerously unfamiliar. Her transformation takes her from a small town girl having an affair with a low ranked gangster in the Montiago crime syndicate, to a woman of grace and fortitude married to the head of the organization. Easter’s Lilly is an inspired journey from the idyllic to the darker side of self-discovery. Read as the over-privileged brothers embark on their journey that twists and turns down the road of unbridled passion in this first book of the series.

Advice from the Future

by Judy Serrano

My mother recently found a book in her storage unit that was titled, “I am an Author.” You guessed it! It was something I wrote when I was 12 years old. Those of you who don’t know me cannot imagine how long ago that was. I now have the book in my possession, and it has shocking information about my childhood. Okay, maybe not shocking. How shocking can the scribbles of a 12-year-old child really be.

Nowadays, things are a little different. It is true that what comes in, goes out. If you read horror, you will most probably write it. In my case, I watch and read romantic suspense, and that is certainly what floods out of my pores. I am also a big fan of the supernatural: sexy vampires, creatures of the underworld, and even some characters that are still unheard of, are certainly on my radar. If there is no hint of romance, no hint of a knowing smile or even a gentle touch, I will ultimately lose interest.

What does this mean for me? If I could give advice to my younger self, it would certainly start there. I am a high school English teacher, and if there was one form of advice that I would like to give myself, this would be it: Read young adult novels. Although I am certainly updating my repertoire, Hunger Games and The Red Queen are two of my favorite young adult books. The romance is light, but it is still clearly there, and the suspense and page-turning craziness is enough to keep my interest piqued. Although there is certain adult content in my novels, young adults devour them. My writing style is certainly young adult, and my characters seem to have a relatable quality that keeps the reader emotionally entangled. My advice is read what you want to write, watch what you want to write, envelop yourself in what you love, and finally … love what you write. The passion comes from you.
