On Tour with Seize (A Magnus Blackwell Novel, #3) by Alexandrea Weis & Lucas Astor and Meet the Author

You know these guys and you know I love them, so here’s the third book in the series.

Seize (A Magnus Blackwell Novel, #3) by Alexandrea Weis & Lucas Astor, an Adult, Supernatural.

Lexie Arden has a loving husband, a thriving business, and consults with the New Orleans Police Dept on murder cases. Kalfu has given her everything she desires, but challengers to her authority are closing in.

Her dark secret remains hidden from everyone except Magnus. He sees the evil growing stronger, changing her, and hurting her marriage. If Lexie doesn’t rid herself of Kalfu’s influence soon, the consequences will be irreversible.

When she unexpectedly inherits a cottage in the swamp, she uncovers a library of rare books on voodoo. Their spells can reverse the dark lord’s hold and set right the balance between darkness and light. But such magic requires a great sacrifice; one Lexie isn’t willing to make.

With the shadow spirits and raging voodoo gods vying for her attention, Lexie is on the verge of losing everything—her husband, her power, Magnus, and possibly, her life.

The battle for control of the mambo’s soul is about to begin.

Lucas Astor is from New York, has resided in Central America and the Middle East, and traveled through Europe. He lives a very private, virtually reclusive lifestyle, preferring to spend time with a close-knit group of friends than be in the spotlight.

He is an author and poet with a penchant for telling stories that delve into the dark side of the human psyche. He likes to explore the evil that exists, not just in the world, but right next door behind a smiling face.

Photography, making wine, and helping endangered species are just some of his interests. Lucas is an expert archer and enjoys jazz, blues, and classical music.

One of his favorite quotes is:  “It’s better to be silent than be a fool.”  ~Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird)

I asked Alexandrea and Lucas if they can the talk about the series as a whole, if there’s a theme, a bigger arch? And do they know how many more stories there will be?

The story of Lexie Arden and Magnus Blackwell is continuing to evolve with every book; I envision more voodoo/murder/adventures to come. With the tip of the Voodoo pantheon barely tapped, we still have more gods and demi-gods to meet. Seize is the third full installment in the series, with the prequel, Blackwell, giving the story of Magnus’s past and how he achieved his sinful nature. It is Magnus Blackwell who is the key to Lexie’s future, and his atonement will shape the path she takes as a mambo. That is the theme of the story—how one person’s life can influence another, no matter the expanse of time between them. The Blackwell series shows how fate is a delicate thread woven through the fabric of different lifetimes and how that thread can at any time tug on one’s life and change everything. Lexie’s continuing story will show that interconnection between her life in the present, and Magnus’s actions in the past. She is his redemption, and through her efforts, good and bad, he will find his way through the wilds of forgiveness. Their friendship is the other theme through the book, and how it grows and helps each one deal with the perils of life, and the afterlife. The role of voodoo is crucial because it brings the magic through which both characters can change, and it also creates more problems than it sometimes solves through the guise of the troublesome gods and demi-gods inherent in its world.

The theme of voodoo is also important because it lends itself to the third major character in the book—New Orleans. The city plays a prominent role in Magnus and Lexie’s growth. Where else could voodoo and ghosts be so readily embraced by secondary characters and play a pivotal role in the arch of each story? It is also the city where I live and was born, so it is part of me, and has become part of The Magnus Blackwell Series.

There are many more adventures ahead for these two intrepid characters. I am so invested in Magnus and Lexie, I fear I will not be putting them to rest for many more books. So get ready … their adventures are only beginning.
