The Author is a Navy Veteran who writes about Navy heroes and heroines. Need it to be said more? Didn’t think so.
The book is Forbidden Kisses by Sha Renée , a military romantic.
When Navy pilot, Ethan Parker falls for the woman he met at a coffee shop, he knows she’s the one he’s waited his entire life for. She’s sensual, sassy and smart. What he doesn’t know is she’s also in the Navy, and her enlisted rank means a relationship with her could potentially get him discharged from military service.
While on leave from teaching at a top Naval facility, Layla Matthews tumbles head-over-heels for the sexiest man she’s encountered in a long time. The fact that he can hold an intelligent conversation is an added bonus. Her world is turned upside down when she later discovers he’s a Navy lieutenant. A senior officer. Her new boss. Definitely off-limits.
Continuing their relationship could ruin their military careers. Ending it would break both their hearts. Do they end their sizzling romance or keep it a secret… and pray no one finds out?
Forbidden Kisses is available in Paperback as well!

Excerpt
For the next forty-five minutes, my coworkers spoke, but I hadn’t a clue what any of them said. My mind was busy replaying the events of the day I first met Ethan. Piercing blue eyes. Beautiful dimples. Coffee. Bathroom. Flirting. Not once had he said anything about the Navy. He had mentioned his new position, but never revealed that he was third in command at an aviation training facility… had he?
At the conclusion of the staff meeting, everyone emptied the room, but I remained seated, waiting for a chance to confront Lieutenant Parker. I pulled my cell from my pocket, pretending I had a reason to linger.
The text notification on my phone startled me.
Ethan: My office. Now.
Me: Are you kidding? I can’t just walk into your office.
Ethan: We need to talk. Wait a few minutes, and then knock on my door.
He stood and left the room without a glance in my direction. The sight of Ethan in uniform made my heart flutter a little.
Memories of nights I’d spent wrapped in his arms flooded my consciousness. How could neither of us know the other’s military status? How could neither of us think to ask?
The door to his office was ajar. Should I just go in? Should I knock? I figured I’d better follow standard procedure just in case anyone saw me. I knocked on the door and spoke immediately after. “Request permission to enter, Sir.”
“Granted.” He rose from his desk, walked past me, and shut the door.
Tension radiated through every muscle in my body. We stood for a beat, staring at each other. He had to be thinking the same thing I was: What! The! F—!
“Layla, what the hell is going on?”
Was he accusing me? Did he think I somehow planned this shit? “You tell me. You never said you’re in the Navy. That you’re an officer. That you work here. Do you know what this means?”
“Of course, I know what this means. I thought you were a student.”
“I am. I was.”
“You didn’t say you’re also an instructor.” He started to pace back and forth.
“It didn’t come up. I had other things on my mind.”
“Like what?” Those vivid, blue eyes held my gaze as he stood mere inches away.
He was too smart to be that clueless. “Like you.”
His expression softened.
“You didn’t tell me you were the new Director of Training at one of the Navy’s best training facilities.”
“Look, why don’t we discuss everything later at the hotel.”
“What are you – Crazy? We can’t keep meeting at the hotel. We can’t talk. We can’t text. We can’t… anything.”
“We need to figure out what we’re going to do.”
“There’s nothing we can do. This is it for us. I finally meet the perfect guy… and I can’t have him.”
A knock at the door startled us and we quickly backed away from each other. My heart beat wildly as the commanding officer swung the door open and came right toward us.

I had the pleasure to have a chat with Sha, and she tells me what makes a kiss amazing.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, some of us can’t help thinking about love and romance Just walk into any Target or CVS and you’ll get an eyeful of reminders that it’s time to focus on expressions of love. Of course, we should tell our loved ones we care throughout the year. But if we forget to say I love you or offer a kind gesture as a token of appreciation, this is the perfect opportunity to make up for it.
The idea of romance often leads to thoughts of kisses. Expectations of kisses we hope to receive as well a reflections on special ones from the past. Recently a friend shared a memory with me of one of her most memorable kisses.
“One of my all-time favorite kisses happened after a walk in a park with someone I had a huge crush on. Rain had been predicted, so before we headed out, I had grabbed an umbrella which he’d carried for me the entire evening.
Before the night was over, we’d shared an experience which I’ve always remembered not only because the kiss itself was amazing, but also because it started raining on us shortly after we locked lips. Without interrupting the kiss, my crush opened the umbrella one-handed and held it over us so we could continue that amazing smooch.”.
Here’s what others (both men and women) have said about their own amazing kisses:
An unexpected, soft neck kiss from behind. (A.M.)
An early morning, gentle forehead kiss when he thinks I’m sleeping. (A.M.)
Short, soft kisses, with a slightly open mouth and a little tug on the lip. It’s especially hot in the middle of sex. (L.C.)
That look in his eyes when he steps into you, takes your face in his hands and kisses you like there’s no one else that matters at that moment. (J.R.)
Kissing my collarbone and nibbling on my neck is a pretty sure-fire way to get me going. (S.K)
My wife and I often show affection by kissing the tip of the nose. I also like sweeping her hair aside and nibble kissing behind her ear. Seems to make her all squiggly whenever I do that, which is highly satisfactory to me. (F.C.)
There is something truly incredible about the first kiss. The unease. It starts with the eyes, then you each look at the lips – the target. Leaning in, you test the texture… how the other feels against your own. Then the soft slip of the tongue – an invitation to explore. (L.M.)
And how about Ethan and Layla’s first kiss?
Well, in honor of St. Valentine, Sha gave it to us, too!
“Can I kiss you, Layla?” He didn’t waste any time. His body pressed against me. Hard. Seeking. Caging me with his muscular arm alongside my head. His beautiful eyes looked deep into mine, like there was something he wanted to communicate.
Everything about him aroused me—his velvety voice, masculine scent. My knees weakened when he looked at me as if he was hungry for me. And those lips. God, I wanted to—
“Please answer me.” His gravelly whisper broke my trance.
“Yes!”
Strong hands cupped my face as Ethan gently rubbed his lips back and forth against mine. Each slow caress made my heart beat faster and my body yearn for more. The skilled motion of his tongue flooded me with yearning as he leisurely licked my lips—the bottom, the top, and the bottom again. My lower lip slid willingly between his, as he sucked and playfully nipped. The more he teased, the more I wanted him. My hips moved reflexively, inching away from the wall until they became flush against Ethan. Firm hands moved from my face and settled on my ass, gently squeezing, pulling me closer. A sigh against his lips resulted in a moan into mine, and with a slow, sweeping motion of his tongue, he explored the depths of my mouth. My pulse raced and my heart pounded fiercely. I gripped his neck and pulled him deeper. Every cell in my body fed off the pleasure he infused. The sweet invasion of his tongue quickly became a hungry intrusion and my urgency matched his. The slow grinding of his hardness against me with a yearning for more.
“Ethan?” A whisper was all I could manage between heavy breaths.
“Hmm?” His groan against my neck produced a little vibration, a sensation which erased any hesitation I had about asking my next question.
“Do you want to come inside?”
