When I read the synopsis, the first paragraph made me think of Helena of Troy, which is nothing but good. Now this barista is in for a crazy ride, and I happily tag along. Also, I love the cover and the title is gold.
The book is Two Thousand Years (The Empire Saga #1) by M. Dalto , a Fantasy, New Adult.
Two thousand years ago, the Prophecy of Fire and Light foretold the coming of the Queen Empress who would lead the Empire into a time of peace and tranquility. But instead of the coming of a prosperous world, a forbidden love for the Empress waged a war that ravaged the land, creating a chasm between the factions, raising the death toll of innocent lives until the final, bloody battle.
Centuries later, Alexandra, a twenty-two-year-old barista living in Boston, is taken to an unfamiliar realm of mystery and magic where her life is threatened by Reylor, its banished Lord Steward. She crosses paths with Treyan, the arrogant and seductive Crown Prince of the Empire, and together they discover how their lives, and their love, are so intricately intertwined by a Prophecy set in motion so many years ago.
Alex, now the predestined Queen Empress Alexstrayna, whose arrival was foretold by the Annals of the Empire, controls the fate of her new home as war rages between the Crown Prince and Lord Steward. Either choice could tear her world apart as she attempts to keep the Empire’s torrid history from repeating itself. In a realm where betrayal and revenge will be as crucial to her survival as love and honor, Alex must discover whether it is her choice – or her fate – that determines how she survives the Empire’s rising conflicts.
Chatting with the AUTHOR

I asked her to tell us, since this is book 1 in a saga, if she she talk about the Saga as a whole?
The Empire Saga all began many years go with I first heard the song “Two Thousand Years” by Billy Joel. The lyrics always resounded with me and I knew one day I wanted to write a story inspired by them. Fast forward to 2014 when I first involved myself with NaNoWriMo, the writing challenge to complete a 50,000-word novel in 30 days. I used Two Thousand Years as an outline for the novel, and an original draft actually used lyrics from the actual song as chapter names. And when the first attempt came to completion, I had a story I was pleased with, but I also knew I wasn’t anywhere near done.
So the following April and July respectively I again took advantage of Camp NaNoWriMo and decided I wanted to work on more stories within the world I created, so I started writing character-centric novellas regarding two main players in TWO THOUSAND YEARS, Reylor and Treyan. Where Reylor was the main antagonist in the story, I knew I wanted to explain more of his history even while I was writing the first book, so that’s how REYLOR’S LAMENT came to be. With Treyan, there were parts of his past and certain things that happened within TWO THOUSAND YEARS where I wanted to tell things from his point of view, so I wrote TREYAN’S PROMISE in conjunction with REYLOR’S LAMENT. Both of these novellas will actually be released in February wherever books are sold online.
The following November in 2015 I drafted the second book in the series, and then another novella, and then the third book a year later. The series was supposed to be a trilogy but as I created a larger world and introduced more characters, it became clear that I had a bigger story to tell, more questions to answer, and more characters whose stories I wanted to see through. So another novella and a fourth book later, The Empire Saga was finally told as an 8-part series.
That’s not to say I’m done there either. There have been times where I consider adding to the Saga, writing different spinoffs and seeing where the characters end up, but that’s a different story for another time.
But the entirety of the Empire Saga has been signed with The Parliament House and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!
