“Tiara? What are you doing here?”
At the sound of Delmar’s voice, Tiara stopped dead in her tracks and swung around and gawked at him.
“Hi, Delmar? I could ask you the same thing,” she exhaled, turning to get a good look at him. “Damn,” he looked so good she thought.
Loudly she cleared her throat. “I was just going to look for the hostess and have her find me a seat.”
“You don’t have too,” he added. “I mean you are welcome to join me. I’m dining alone, same as you.”
Tiara didn’t know why her feet betrayed her as she wandered over to him. “Damn, he smells so good,” she thought to herself as she brushed past him and took the seat across from him. “Thanks, for inviting me to sit down. I’m really hungry.”
“I’m glad you could join me,” he grinned. “The breakfast here is really good.”
Tiara looked at his plate. “Yes, you’re having the Country Big Breakfast. I could do with the junior portion myself and some black coffee.”
Delmar got the attention of their waiter and place her order. Before finally turning to get a good look at her. “You look like you had a night of dancing.”
Tiara felt her face warming up. Anxiety was all over her face. “How did you know that?”
“You’re wearing that black Latin swing dress you always loved to go dancing in,” he beamed. “You always look marvelous in it when you are twirling and spinning around the dance floor.”
Chatting with the Author
J.A. Jackson is the pseudonym for an author who loves to write deliciously sultry, mature/adult, romantic, suspenseful, and entertaining novels with a unique twist.
J.A.JACKSON lives in an enchanted little house she calls home in the Northern California foothills. She fell in love with writing as a child.
Hi J.A. and thank you for being here.
How did you come up with the idea for your book?
There are so many things that inspire me. Ideas for my books can come from places I’ve traveled. Or places that I’ve lived. Many times, from tidbits of odd knowledge I pick up while reading throughout the day. Odd questions that fill my mind when I have one of those “what if moments”. But as always, I must say I do take a lot of my inspiration from the grandiose landscape of the magnificent State of California. For example, for my book the Grand Hotel my inspiration came from walking past the regal old Sir Drake Hotel on Powell Street in San Francisco one night. The flickering lights coming from the welcoming door gave me a “what if“moment. From there the ideas for The Grand Hotel was born.
Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?
My writing process really depends on the book and the moment. By that I mean, sometimes I may plot out the story, point by point, because at that moment I an inspired and my muse is giving me ideas on how my story should flow. If this happens then yes, I will write down the plot by whatever inspiration I am receiving from my muse.
However, if I’m into a story and my muse is silent Then I am writing from the seat of my pants. Meaning wherever the story is taking me, I go. How I make sure my plot is meshing is when I do my content proofing, proof reading and read out loud moments. It is here that I check to see if my storying is connected by way of the plot.
Routine or When Inspiration Strikes:
My routine is to write daily, something. I write, each and every day, something. If, I’m writing a book at least two pages or more. If I’m editing/revising at least a half of a chapter or more. When inspiration hits and I am at my desk. I write, sometimes well past midnight. If inspiration hits and I’m driving my car. I will pull over when its safe to do so and write it down.
When you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have many interests, I love to play at golf, I say that because I am a newbie to golf. I love going to the movies, concerts, I also love Gardening. I love growing flowers I have many species of flowers from geraniums, roses, jasmines, jade plants that I am proud of as well as a bird of paradise that’s doing well. When I’m not in my garden my husband and I take to the road and do anything pleasurable favorite of mine “going riding”. I call it our bay area back road adventure.
