One more from Scott, then I’ll move on to his brother, Rhett.
And just so you know, it’s going to be a total teaser.
You’d think a chef’s life is ordinary, right? And you’d be right. So how a chef like Scott ended up in the following scene?
Trying to keep quiet, Scott moved from behind the couch, his gun steady in his hand, as Rhett and DJ started going up the stairs.
If he wanted to do something, he had to get closer to them without being seen. No way he would shoot the bastard, not with Rhett and DJ so close. His hand was steady, but too much stood at stake.
Maybe he’d have his chance when they got to the bedroom. Jump on the asshole while he gave him his back.
DJ grabbed the handrail with both hands, and with all the force she had she kicked back.
Probably expecting something, the bastard dodged the worst of the kick and grabbed her ankle. DJ rotated, lost balance. She managed to hold the rail as she landed badly on the steps.
She kept kicking like a crazed horse, forcing the man to defend himself. Rhett joined the fight, hitting the bastard where he could from his position atop.
It might be the only moment he had to take action.
Scott ran from his hiding spot, jumped into the human tangle that was DJ, the man, and Rhett.
The first jab hit the bastard’s side, into his lower ribs, and carried all the strength of his anger and of his advantage point.
As usual, here are other great stories for you to check out:
