August by Amarie Avant and Meet the Author

This is going to be an interesting ride. Read the last line of the synopsis if you don’t believe me!

The book is August by Amarie Avant, a contemporary suspense.

Synopsis
Seven years ago, the love of my life and my parents died a robbery gone wrong.
Do you know what that can do to a professionally trained hitman?
Now, I work for a government organization, my next assignment is to infiltrate the Marchand’s crew.
The information is vague.
But what takes the cake, is that the family “business” of crooks I’m to investigate, includes a Bajan little sister whose lips are the definition of sex and trouble.
And yet Natalia’s soft curves are off limits—not because her brothers will bash my head in.

No, she is capable of offing me herself.

Natalia Marchand
Anything a man can do, I can do it better.
I’ve lived by that credo my entire life, and with my dangerous ‘job’ it’s always been true.
I’m a rich man’s kryptonite, I can pretend to desire you, and then execute a plan to take all you own.
My brother’s and I live a dangerous lifestyle.
Then in walks muscles, murky green eyes, and a cocky smile. August needs a place to stay, and he’s saved my kid brother’s life.
Now, he’s a god to my brothers. Can he really be trusted?
But I’ll put a bullet to his head if he proves my intuition is right.

A chat with the Author.Hi Amarie, and thank you for being here. Can you describe your book in one sentence?Suspense, angst, laughter, August is a crazy and emotional ride about a hitman and a Barbadian bad girl. How did you get the idea for the story?

I have this addiction to watching 20/20, one of the stories in particular about a paid hitman just sparked an entire interest in that world. But obviously,  I had to make my hitman the good guy 😉

What did you enjoy most about writing it?

Creating my own world. Fleshing out my feelings. I work in the mental health field, which can be particularly daunting. So when I’m writing books, I can “off” people. I also have owned various businesses such as a flower shop, a photography studio. I’ve been around the world, with money to blow, and that is awesome too.

What’s one thing that readers would be surprised to learn out about you?

That I’m almost deathly shy. Like literally, I’ll stop breathing if I get too nervous.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not writing?

I love going to the movies. It’s an addiction. I have my favorite actors and I have actors that I hate (because they played their devious characters too well).

Tell us your latest news. Do you have any new books or projects?

Besides the release of August in kindle book and audiobook format, I’m currently working on a sequel to Make Me Stay, which is a contemporary romance, also a stand alone, but the rave reviews kept asking for more. This second chance romance centers around a bad boy and a feisty, deaf heroine. Book one is filled with drama and the intensity of falling back in love with your childhood romance.

Favorite place to write: Macbook in bed. I’m lazy.

Favorite book: The Joy Luck Club and The Great Gatsby because I’m a stickler for characters that cling to me.

What makes you happy: Hot chocolate and Lifetime/ Hallmark Channel Christmas movies. It’s a very simple, uncomplicated life.

Biggest dream you hope to accomplish: My pilot for Killing Mary Jane to get the greenlight for a show.
