Because the story is all about temptation, I asked B. Truly to tell us about her temptation. Here’s what she told me.
My temptation is reading sci-fi and paranormal romance. I’m a romantic at heart, so whatever I read does have to have romance in it. I definitely prefer new adult and adult because it’s steamier than YA.
One of my first adult, fantasy series was Dark-Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon. After sitting down and reading the first few pages, I was hooked. Not only was the story well-written, it was also full of action, suspense, and comedy. The romance made me blush with a smile on my face the entire time. That’s when I knew that adult romance was my cup of tea.
Over the years, I have encountered a lot of other great sci-fi and paranormal romances from True Blood to the Kindred series. The great thing about sci-fi romance is that things out of the norm can happen. One of the best sci-fi elements that I’ve uncovered is Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon. Those are some sexy blue men. In order to survive on their ice planet, everyone has to have a khui. It’s a parasite that wraps around the host’s heart. The neon blue khui is a very interesting creature. It heals and keeps its host warm. The khui’s true purpose is a mating call. The parasite vibrates in the host’s chest when it chooses their mate, and it is binding. The hunky blue men also have interesting pieces of equipment—all of what makes sci-fi romance so great.
I can’t say that I feel guilty about reading it, because I don’t. Lol. When I’m reading a good romance, I look forward to coming home, snuggling under the covers, and reading. One place that I don’t read my romance anymore is at work. I learned my lesson by trying to read the Fifty Shades of Grey series while at work. It was just too steamy and made me hot and bothered. So I decided it’s best to read my romance at home.
There’s such a great variety of romance in this day and age. I’m grateful to Amazon for making it possible for self-published authors to make their dreams of writing come true. Now there are millions of sci-fi, romance for me to have my fill of.
