A chat with Sarah Mitchell

HI all,

today, we have paranormal author Sarah Mitchell. Her last story, Shifted By Fate, released a few days back, so let’s take a chance to meet the pen that wrote it.

Hi Sarah, and welcome! How did you come up with the idea for your book?

Shifted by Fate was part imagination and part dream.

Do you think anything in real life helped the dream? Or it just one of those random dreams you have, and you added the imagination?

It was just one of those crazy random dreams. I woke from it during the night and ran to the kitchen to write it down on paper! From that, I added to it and the story came together…

What sort of research did you do to write this book?

I did research on different foliage/trees from the Pacific northwest to help make the world Shifted by Fate is set in, to help make it more real.

What is the main thing you want readers to take away from your book?

I just want my readers to get lost in the story and enjoy reading it.

You know, that’s all I want for my readers, too. Unwind, with some wine or chocolate, or whatever they like, and get lost in my stories. Can you tell us a fun fact about writing your book?

Hmm… I usually write at night when home. The babies are asleep and the house is quiet.

What are you working on now?

I am currently working on completing book 3 in my Highland Chance series. It is a Historical Paranormal Romance series that has romance, excitement, intrigue, and a touch of time travel.

Do you have a day job?

Yes, I have a full-time day job. I teach, but I try to write as much as possible.

How do you keep from resenting your duties when you have to stop writing to take care of them?

I do not resent my duties. I love my family and family comes first.

What do your friend and family think about your being a writer?

My family is very supportive and help me with anything they can.

What does your writing space look like?

I really do not have a technical writing space. I write where I can and when I can.

Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?

I only outline the main ideas with character background/info, and the rest of the story I let develop as I write the story.

Yes, like I do. It’s like a journey to an exotic place, where you know the main destination, but the journey is full of surprises. What has been one of your most rewarding experiences as an author?

Seeing that my stories are enjoyed by my readers!

Do you have quirky writing habits?

I often write at night.

Is there anything about the writing life that you think is misunderstood by the public?

That Authors are rich. We are not and we have to work at it like any other profession and constantly perfect our craft.

Can you describe your writing style in ten words or less.

Feisty Romantic

Uh, I love feisty. How long does it take to write a story?

There are many outside influences that determine the amount I have for writing. Can you give us the bigger ones? Life lol… It depends when I get home from work and then taking care of my kiddos, and bedtime. Sometimes we are just super busy.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

With a large family, I am always busy and I enjoy time with my family and young children.

If you were an animal, which one would you be?

Hmm… this is hard! lol A cat.

If you could have any accent from anywhere in the world, which would it be?

Scotland.

Now the quick round:

A pet peeve: Being shushed lol

Pen or computer: Computer

Music or silence: It depends on my mood lol

Alone or in public: Alone

Routine or when inspiration struck: Inspiration

Outline or just write: Just write

Thank you for being with us, Sarah! Shifted By Fate is Kelly and Eric’s story.

FB_IMG_1494166003072.jpgKelly had a history of picking the wrong guy, but destiny had its own twisted plan for her.
She could not change what destiny had in store for her, but she could learn to accept it.
With change came Eric and he was one-hundred percent Alpha bad boy.
Kelly knew one thing when it came to Eric…
He drove her absolutely crazy.
Eric knew as soon as he scented her, and her smell invaded his senses, that she was his mate.
An alpha did not let go of his mate for anything…. she was his.
He would fight for her.
He would guide her.
He would love her.

And with other wolves now after her… he would protect her at all cost.
